See you there.

District Meet Info

Saturday, Nov. 1st is the West Central District meet. This meet combines the teams from the Seamount league, the SPSL league, and the Olympic league, and it determines who qualifies for the state meet. Our district is by far the largest district in the state, so the top 6 teams and the top 30 individuals advance. Though we compete only against the other 2A schools, all school classifications compete in this meet, so there will be lots of teams at the golf course.

Admission will be changed for this meet, so be prepared with cash. Adults and students w/o ASB $7, Students with ASB $5, kids $4.

The meet takes place at American Lake Golf Course in Lakewood near Tacoma. The address is: 9600 Veterans Dr SW, Lakewood, WA 98493

The schedule for the day:

7:15 at school
7:30 leave
10:30 girls race
11:40 boys race
12:35 awards

Seamount League Champs. Twice.

Both the boys and girls teams won the league meet today, making both teams the 2014 Seamount League Champs! The girls beat second place Renton 30 – 42. The boys beat second place Hazen 36 – 55. The girls were led by Christine Villanueva, who finished second overall. Daniel Langer finished third and led the boys.

The top ten placers at the league meet earned First Team All-League status. Our girls first-team placers were Christine Villanueva (2nd), Lauren Wick (5th), Cindy Huynh (6th), and Feven Fessahatzion (7th). Our boys first-team placers were Daniel Langer (3rd), Dupree Nugent (5th), Tyler Hughey (6th), and Colton Komar (10th).

10:15 Coaches meeting/girls warm-up

Boys Finish Undefeated Again, Girls 6 – 1

The boys team handily beat Renton, Tyee, and Foster to finish off an undefeated dual meet season. The girls fell one point short against Renton to finish 6 – 1 on the season. Daniel paced the boys team, while Christine put up an impressive race to almost win the girls event individually.

In the JV meet runners were directed to make an incorrect turn, so the course ended up a bit short–closer to three miles than 5K. Thus the finish times needed to be converted by adding :30 to :45.

Both teams now must win the Seamount League Meet on Saturday to claim the league championship titles. The league title is determined by a combination of dual meet records and league meet placing. A tie between teams is broken by the winner of the league meet. Thus, if our girls team can beat Renton at the League meet then we will tie for overall season points, but we would win the tie breaker. Likewise our boys cannot allow Hazen to beat us at Leagues or they will beat us in the tie breaker.

Tons of PRs at Curtis Invitational

Beautiful weather and a fast course meant tons of PRs today at the Curtis Invite. This was definitely our best race of the season. It’s exciting to see our team continue to progress from week to week. Our boys varsity finished 9th place overall out of 44 teams participating, and the second 2A team (only Sequim, ranked #1 in the state, beat us). Our girls finished 12th overall out of 34, and we were the top 2A team. Individually, Daniel Langer finished 15th overall with a time of 16:11, moving him up to 15th on the Lindbergh All-Time list. Lauren Wick and Christine Villanueva led the girls. Christine’s time of 20:28 moved her up to 18th on the girls All-Time list. Lauren is already 6th on the list.

Now we need to keep working hard and continuing to improve over these next few weeks.

Two More Wins

We added two more marks to the win column today by defeating both Evergreen and Kennedy. The Varsity boys, girls, and JV are each 4 – 0 with our final dual meet next week against Renton, Tyee, and Foster. We are getting closer to our goal of being league champs.
