We Ran Fast At The Twilight Invite

Our boys varsity took first place and our girls took fourth at the Twilight Invitational yesterday. This was our best race of the season so far. Of the 28 team members who competed, 24 of them ran their lifetime PR, and two of them ran their season PR. Christine and Ashley each improved by more than a minute on the girls team, while Dupree, Will, Ramsey, Yaphet, Stepen, Matt, Jayden, Joey, and Dominic all improved boy more than a minute for the boys.

Thuong moved up to 14th on the Lindbergh All-Time list. Cindy and Christine are 22nd and 23rd on the list.

Great job everyone. We have a few more weeks to keep improving.

Fun and Fast Racing at Mt. Baker Invite

We had a great weekend in Bellingham and Silver Lake! We had fun team bonding and created some good memories. Everyone ran very well–our best team effort of the season so far. The girls varsity once again had the race of the day. They finished 4th with Thuong ending up 12th and Cindy 20th. The boys finished 5th (with Omeylan it would have been 4th). Mohamud took 6th place.

Some notable performances: Joey improved over 2:00 from a year ago, while Ismael, Titus, Evan, and David each improved around 1:30. Stassney knocked off almost 2:30, while Thuong took off over a minute and Cindy just under a minute.

Great job everyone.

Strong Showing at Fort Steilacoom

The majority of our team members ran either a life-time PR or their very first 5K race ever last Saturday at Fort Steilacoom Invite. We had great weather, a competitive race, and a fun day. Mohamud Abdi moved up to #4 on our All-Time List, and Thuong Nguyen moved up to #18 on the girls All-Time List. The girl’s team finished third in the Small Schools division (2A and smaller), while the boys finished second place.

We have a lot of work to do to get to where we want to be as a team, but we off to a great start.

Pictures will be posted soon.

Another Win at Mt. Baker Invitational

For the fourth year in a row the boys team took first place at the Mt. Baker invitational.  Our top seven times were the fastest times we have ever had at this meet.  The JV boys also took first place.  The girls finished in fourth place.  The good news with the girls team is that some of our injured runners are beginning to train and race again.

Sarah Reiter continued her winning ways, taking first by a large margin and missing the course record by only ten seconds.

Mixed Results in the Portland Heat

85 degrees at Portland Meadows yesterday.  Enough sun to give each of the coaches impressive farmer’s tans.  And enough to cause dozens of runners throughout the day to pass out from heat stroke.  I don’t think our team has seen temperatures like that since the first Bush administration.  Nonetheless, most of our team ran solid to good in the meet.  The pre-nationals meet has teams from all around the U.S., with a heavy emphasis on top California teams.  Needless to say, the competition was fierce.

The highlight of the day in Portland for Lindbergh cross country came from the girls Danner Champs race.  Our very own Sarah Reiter continues to impress with a new PR, a new school record, and a second place finish.  The girl who beat her is ranked in the top 5 runners in the nation.

In other girls results, Monique Smith ran a huge PR, while Brenna Fisher and Liz Hansen ran faster at this course than they did last year.  This group ran in the Varsity 1 race.

In the JV race, three of our top 7 ran PRs:  Ben Platt, Mitchell Hughey, and Matt Nelsen.

The boys varsity ran solid races in the boys Danner Champs.  Nathan Haley, Travis Downen, and Alex Nelsen ran PRs.
