The 2009 Season Begins with Class Meet

Today was the Seamount League class meet.  Many Lindbergh runners had outstanding performances.  We had the fastest times of the day for both boys and girls:  Sarah Reiter ran 12:41 (second fastest was 13:46) and Trevor Thompson ran 10:03, setting a new course record (previous record was set last year by Michael Miller in 10:04).  Several team members also placed in the top 10 in their respestive races.

Seamount Class Meet Results

This Thursday was the Seamount Class meet.  There are nine team now in the Seamount league (Lindbergh, Renton, Hazen, Mt. Rainier, Tyee, Evergreen, Kennedy, Highline, Foster).  The 2 mile race takes place on the rolling hills of the Evergreen High School course.  Lindbergh looked very good compared to the rest of the league this year; we took home far more top-ten ribbons than any other team.  Mark Garcia and Sarah Reiter won the freshman races, Nate Tandecki took first in the sophomore race, Trevor Thompson ran away with the Junior race, and Matt Miland took second in the senior race to Mt. Rainier's Michael Miller.  Matt and Michael attacked each other for the entire two mile course, passing each other back and forth continuously.  Officially they finished with identical times, although Miller took first on the lean.  Their time of 10:04 is a new class meet course record.  Sam Ahlbeck, who graduated from Lindbergh in 2004-05 held the previous record of 10:07.

Class Meet Results

The class meet this year was a smashing success for the Lindbergh Eagles.  In each race, we placed at least one person in the top ten.  We had three individual winners (Anna Sinclair, Trevor Thompson, and Matt Miland).  Trevor set a new freshman course record by :18 seconds.  Almost everyone was greatly improved over last year's times.  If we calculated the team score, our boys would have easily taken first place, while our girls would have finished third (behind Renton and Hazen).
