Form Drills from Dathan Ritzenhein

Remember the form drills that Travis Downen and Mitchell Hughey taught us at camp? I put a link to the site where Dathen Ritzenhein demonstrates and explains these drills in the “Core Workouts and Form Drills” button on the right of the page. Check it out and practice these drills!

A Great Week At Running Camp

We had over 60 runners plus a bunch of alumni at the 2013 Running Camp. I had a great time spending the week with everyone. We played goofy games; we did a lot of running; we had guest speakers, including a physical therapist, a shoe expert, a professional runner, and a successful coach; we ate lots of food; we made new friends; we had lots of prizes. I hope everyone enjoyed the week as much as I did.

I put the pictures that I took during the week in the Photo Gallery on the right side of the page. I tried to get as many people as possible in the pictures–sorry if I missed someone. If I have time I will put together a mash-up of the photos and video that I took during the week and post a link. Keep checking for this.

There is ONE MONTH until cross country starts. Keep running. Do you drills. Work on your core. Set goals. Talk your friends into turning out.

I hope I see you all very soon!

Running Camp–Put it on your calendar!

This year our running camp will take place the week of July 22nd – 26th. We will meet at Phillip Arnold park each day from 9:00 – 2:00. The teams from Renton and Franklin will join us. The camp is free. Food will be provided (we need help with this, however). Get ready for the best running camp ever!

Cross Country Info Meeting

Wednesday, June 5th at 2:15 in Rettmann’s room.

Awards Banquet

The end-of-season awards banquet is Wednesday, Nov. 14th at 6:00 p.m. in the Lindbergh Library. All family members are invited and encouraged to come.

This is a potluck, so please bring something. So that we don’t end up with 25 tubs of potato salad, I am assigning things to bring. If you have your heart set on bringing something other than what you have been assigned, however, that is okay to do.

Freshman: sweets
Sophomores: Salads / side dish
Juniors: main dish
Seniors: drinks

State Meet Results

Congratulations to everyone who competed at the state meet: Thuong Nguyen, Christine Villanueva, Mohamud Abdi, Colton Maddy, Mitchell Hughey, Ismael Purganan, Omelyan Strembitskyy, Titus Owen, David Huff.

Our boys finished 10th in the 2A race. Colton and Mitchell ran PRs and had the best races on our team. In the girls race, Christine ran very well. This was the first state experience for most of our team, and we competed well.

Success and Disappointment at the District Meet

Mohamud continued his winning ways at the West Central District meet, winning by :09. He is the Seamount League Champ, the Sub-District Champ, and the West Central District champ. Great job Mo!

The boys team took second place in the meet, qualifying for the state meet. Our boys team has qualified for state eight years in a row, and 10 of the past 11 years.

The girls team just missed a state berth, finishing in 6th place (the top 5 qualify). Two of our girls qualified individually, however. Thuong ran an impressive race, finishing 7th. Christine also ran a very strong 21st place finish.

The state meet is this coming Saturday in Pasco.
