Meet at the Park Monday, June 23rd

Starting Monday, June 23rd people on the team will meet at Tiffany Park by the playground at 9:00 to run together. It’s always fun when there are lots of people to run with, so I hope to see you there!

Summer Mileage Clubs

June 1st is the first day for keeping track of summer mileage to earn entrance to the prestigious Lindbergh Mileage Clubs. Keep track of your miles, and post them on Flotrack. Remember, off-season training is what determines in-season success!

Awards Banquet

The 2013 Cross Country Awards Banquet will be Thursday, Nov. 21st from 6:00 – 8:00 in the Lindbergh cafeteria.

All team members and family members are invited to help us celebrate the season. This is a potluck, so please bring food to contribute. I have assigned everyone something to bring so that we don’t end up with 20 bowls of pork and beans. Feel free to bring whatever you would like if you have that “special dish”.

Freshmen: Main Dish
Sophomores: Sweats
Juniors: Drinks
Seniors: Side Dish

See you there!

Historic Day at the State Meet

And our top 5 girls are all now on the Top 20 All-Time List: Lauren #6, Feven #9, Thuong #16, Cindy #17, and Christine #19. This finishes an undefeated season as League champs, Sub-District Champs, and District Champs.

The boys team finished in 6th place. Endalkachew Abebaw placed 6th overall, while Colton Maddy finished in 19th. Daniel Langer was the second fastest freshman in the state.

Girls Win Big at Districts; Boys narrowly miss the win

The Lindbergh girls won the district cross country meet for the first time in school history Saturday. And they didn’t just win–they gapped 2nd place North Kitsap by 40 points (61 to 101). Lauren Wick finished third place overall and Feven Fessahatzion finished 7th. Our top five girls each qualified for state individually by placing in the top 25.

The boys just missed 1st place Sequim, getting eclipsed by 3 points (77-80). The Renton boys were third with 118. Endalkachew Abebaw won the meet by :34. Colton Maddy wrapped up a 1-2 finish for Lindbergh by fighting off a late charge by the chase pack to finish second.

The course ran slow this year for some reason for all classifications–maybe by as much as :40.

This is the 9th year in a row that our boys have qualified for the state meet. The girls have made it 4 of the last 5 years.

District Meet Info

Saturday, Nov. 2nd is the West Central District Meet at American Lake Golf Course. All classifications will compete at this meet, making it just as big as the state meet. We will only race against the 2A teams, however. The 2A teams come from the Seamount League, the SPSL league, and the Olympic league. There will be 12 teams in our race. The top 5 teams and the top 25 individuals qualify for the state meet.

Sub-District Success

Both the boys and the girls team took first place at the Sub-District meet Saturday. Though the boys have won this meet multiple times, this is the first time the girls have won. And both teams won easily. They boys scored 46 points, 22 points ahead of second-place Renton. The girls scored 41 points, a whopping 43 points ahead of 2nd place Steilacoom. Colton Maddy took first place in the boys race, while Lauren Wick finished in second place. Our boys JV was the first place 2A team and the 3rd place overall.

22 people on our team ran PRs in the meet, some by as much as 1:30! This was a great way to end a great season for our JV runners.

Sub-District Meet Information

The Sub District meet is this Saturday, Oct. 25th at Fort Steilacoom park. This meet determines what teams and individuals qualify to compete at the district meet next week. Sub Districts is a combination of both the Seamount League and the SPSL league. We compete only against the other teams in our classification, which is 2A. There are 5 Seamount 2A teams and 8 SPSL 2A teams. The top 7 teams qualify for districts. The 3A and 4A schools will also be competing at the meet, but they will be in different races.

The top 7 individuals will receive a medal. Members of the winning team will receive ribbons.
