The Class Meet is Over–the season has started

Tuesday, September 13th was the Seamount League class meet at Evergreen High School.  This meet is our first test to see how we compare to the other 15 teams in our district.  Here is a recap and analysis of the day’s races.

In the Freshmen race, Lindbergh’s Matt Miland finished in an impressive second place. At the quarter mile mark, Matt was in about 20th place. By the mile he was in the top ten. Over the past half-mile he continued to close the gap, but finished seven seconds by the leader.

In the most hotly contested race of the day, the Junior Boys Race, Chris Miland placed 7th, James Turnbull placed 9th, and Tor Ferguson placed 11th.

In the Senior Boys race Andy Dean finished 6th and Ranvir Sahota placed 9th.

The only Lindbergh 1st place finish came in the Senior Girls race. Olga Sievers, who was 3rd in the junior race last year, ran a smart and aggressive race. She was in 5th place at the mile but made a series of strong moves on the back part of the course, dropping all of the girls in the race. She ended up winning by sixteen seconds.

Hazen, Renton, and Penninsula were the top girls teams.

On the boy’s side, Franklin Pierce and Penninsula were the top two teams from the Pierce Division, while Lindbergh topped Hazen and Renton from the King Division.
