A New Lindbergh Record

Matt Miland has set a new Lindbergh mile record for a freshman.

Matt Miland ran this past Saturday at the Shoreline Invite. He was in the Frosh/Soph mile which means only freshmen and sophmores were in this race.

The weather was as bad as it gets, cold about 40 degrees and raining with a slight head wind on the back stretch.
Matt went out with the lead pack knowing he should be able to place in this race. He was in the middle of the pack around 10th place for most of the race then just before the start of the last lap he made a huge move, about a 100+ meter surge around the corner in lane 3, passing 3 to 4 people and putting himself into 7th with Ryan Prentice (The Mt. Rainier guy) right behind him and he held his position around the last turn and still had a kick passing 2 more and taking 5th place in the race beating Prentice with a 4:37 which beats the Lindbergh freshman Mile record by 2 seconds.

His splits were
Lap1 66,
Lap2 72,
Lap3 72,
Lap4 67

Matt still has All-City, league, Districts, and who knows maybe even state to make that record more impressive.
