By brett
Summary
John Cote was more of a track middle distance runner than a cross country runner. He was a multi-year varsity cross country runner but mostly middle of the pack. In track, he was the best in the state and still holds the Washington State 800m record. He placed 3rd nationally his Senior year and broke the 25-year-old state mark of 1:50.4 set by Greg Gibson of Connell in 1972.
John went on to run for Washington State University on a full ride scholarship for a couple years.
