Server maintenance

Over this past week, I've been performing much needed maintenance on the server. I've migrated the website from a Windows machine to a Linux machine. This won't mean much to the users of this site except hopefully better performance. Rettdog might need to change a few things in the photo gallery uploads. I'll email you in a while with any changes.

If you find any problems on the website at all, please email me or post in the forum. You can reach me at brett AT devlance.com.  Current known problems that I am working on:

  • Photo gallery is not working correctly yet (fixed 11/4 at 10:30am)

Week #5 Rettblog

Sideaches

I am sure almost everyone has had a side ache or "sidestitch" at some point or another. They usually seem to occur when we're first starting to get into shape or maybe when we had a late lunch. According to the Doctors Book of Home Remedies for Men (I am sure Women's livers are in the same spot and this works for them too 🙂 :

If you're like most people, when you run, you exhale as your right foot hits the ground.
This puts downward pressure on your liver (which lives on your right side), which then tugs at the diaphragm and creates a side stitch. The fix: Exhale as your left foot strikes the ground.

John Cote

Summary

John Cote was more of a track middle distance runner than a cross country runner. He was a multi-year varsity cross country runner but mostly middle of the pack. In track, he was the best in the state and still holds the Washington State 800m record. He placed 3rd nationally his Senior year and broke the 25-year-old state mark of 1:50.4 set by Greg Gibson of Connell in 1972.

John went on to run for Washington State University on a full ride scholarship for a couple years.

Best times:

800m 1:49.41

4x400m split: 46.5

3 mile – 16:33 (5:31 pace)

John, if you ever land on this page and can provide more times, please contact us.
