Eagle Running Camp

The 3rd Annual Eagle Running Camp will take place Monday, July 16th – Friday, July 20th. Meet at Phillip Arnold Park at 9:00 a.m. It will be done around 2:00ish. The camp is free, but everyone needs to have a Renton Sports Camp Permission form filled out and turned in by the first day of camp. The team captains can give you this form, or they can be filled out the morning of the first day.

The camp is a great chance for team bonding, fun, learning, conditioning, good free food, etc.

The schedule each day will be something like this:

9:00 meet at park, team activity
9:20 warm-up, core exercises
9:45 group run
10:45 snack
11:00 guest speaker
12:00 lunch
12:45 camp game
2:00 go home

Free Physicals for Athletic Clearance

The Valley Medical Center and the Renton School District have partnered to provide FREE sports physicals. They will be offered Saturday, August 4th from 8:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Renton High School.

Before attending this event you need to obtain the Athletic Packet from the Attendance Office or the Main Office, or from Coach Rettmann. The doctor needs to sign the district physical form.

If you prefer to have your own doctor do your physical that is fine, but you still need to bring the district Athletic Packet to your appointment.

Keep Training!

Track season is coming up soon. Show up after school outside the locker rooms and find a group to run with. Remember, off-season training is what determine how successful you will be during the season.

Both the boys and the girls teams qualified for the state meet this weekend. The girls finished in 4th place (the top 5 go to state), and were only 17 points out of first place. The boys finished in first place to become the West Central District Champions for the second year in a row. The boys ran without Mohamud, who was resting a sore back. Colton ran a great race as the alternate.

This is the third year in a row that both the boys and the girls teams qualified for state.

The top 5 teams and the top 25 individuals qualify for the state meet. There will be admission charged for this meet (I think $7 per person, $5 for a student with ASB). Here is the itinerary for Saturday:

9:45 arrive at the course
11:30 Boys 2A race
12:20 Boys 2A awards

Success at Sub-Districts

Both our JV and Varsity boys took first place at the Sub-District meet today, while the girls took second place to Interlake. This week was Peak Week for the JV team, and 16 out of 23 JV team members finished the season today with a PR. The course at Fort Steilacoom ran a little slow today for all of the races, probably due to the many large puddles and slippery spots on the course from all the rain the past few days. Great job everyone. The complete results will be posted on athletic.net soon.

Sub-Districts Info

This Saturday, Oct. 22nd, is the Sub-District meet at Fort Steilacoom. This is the last meet for the JV team members. For the varsity, this meet determines which teams advance to the district meet the following week (the top five teams advance). At this meet the varsity runners will only compete against the other 2A teams from the Seamount league, SPSL, and Kingco. In all, there are 16 teams in the meet (White River, Interlake, Tyee, Evergreen, Eatonville, Steilacoom, Franklin Pierce, Lindbergh, Foster, Washington, Sumner, Fife, Clover Park, and Renton).

Here is the schedule for the day:

7:00 Arrive at Lindbergh
9:00 Coaches meeting
9:30 JV Boys 2A/3A
10:00 2A Varsity boys
10:30 3A Varsity boys
11:00 2A Varsity girls
11:45 3A Varsity girls
12:15 JV Girls 2A/3A

Seamount League Champs X3

Once again, the Lindbergh cross country teams finished first in the Seamount League. The Varsity boys took first place with 19 points to second place Renton who had 68. The varsity girls won with 18 points to Hazen’s second place 50. And the JV boys had the low score of the day, winning 16 to Hazen’s 63.

In the girls race we put our top 5 in the top 8 in the race. Sarah, Anna, Jasmine, Thuong, and Liz all earned First Team All-League status in the girl’s race. In the boys race we placed our top 6 in the top 10. Luke, Mo, Mark, Travis, Ben, and Nathan all earned First Team All-League. In the JV boys we put our top 6 in the top 7 of the race. They were Endalkachew, Westerling, Sam, Ismael, Keshawn, and David.

Though the weather was ideal, the course was probably a little slower than in the past. Due to construction there were a couple of revisions to the course. This added some sharp turns that runners had to navigate on both laps.

Seamount League Meet Information

This Saturday, Oct. 15th is the Seamount League meet. All 8 teams in the league will be there. The meet is scored in two ways: First, it is scored as a dual meet between the teams who have not yet competed against one another. For us, this means we are scoring against Renton, Hazen, and Kennedy. Additionally, it is scored as the Seamount League Championship meet. The top 10 varsity boys and girls in the meet are considered 1st Team All-Seamount League, and they will receive a plaque.
