Seamount Class Meet Results

This Thursday was the Seamount Class meet.  There are nine team now in the Seamount league (Lindbergh, Renton, Hazen, Mt. Rainier, Tyee, Evergreen, Kennedy, Highline, Foster).  The 2 mile race takes place on the rolling hills of the Evergreen High School course.  Lindbergh looked very good compared to the rest of the league this year; we took home far more top-ten ribbons than any other team.  Mark Garcia and Sarah Reiter won the freshman races, Nate Tandecki took first in the sophomore race, Trevor Thompson ran away with the Junior race, and Matt Miland took second in the senior race to Mt. Rainier's Michael Miller.  Matt and Michael attacked each other for the entire two mile course, passing each other back and forth continuously.  Officially they finished with identical times, although Miller took first on the lean.  Their time of 10:04 is a new class meet course record.  Sam Ahlbeck, who graduated from Lindbergh in 2004-05 held the previous record of 10:07.

Tahoma Relay Results

The season is off and running now that we have had our first meet.  The weather was perfect.  The lake was fairly warm to run through.  Tons of parents came to watch the races and participate in the potluck.  And everyone ran great.  Our top relay team of Trevor, Sarah, Matt, Anna, and Joseph placed third, the best ever for a Lindbergh relay team at that meet.  In short, it was a good day.  I have no idea exactly how long the course actually is (somewhat less than 2 miles).  The times don't mean much.  Some people got caught in the bottleneck and had to slow down.  Some people fell in the water and lost time.  Some people ran most of the course without anyone around them to pace off of.  If you want to see your time and compare it to other team members, however, click below.

8th At State!

Once again the Lindbergh boys finished in the top 10 at the state meet.  After being unranked the entire season, we proved once again that we are one of the top teams in the state.  This year was the 6th time in the past 7 years that our team has competed in the state meet.  During this run we have been 11th, 10th, 9th, 8th (twice), and 6th.

Trevor Thompson placed 9th and was only :05 away from third place.  He qualified for the Nike Borderclash in two weeks.

Our top 8 runners this year are all returning next year.  This means that compared to the returners from the other top teams in the state, Lindbergh is ranked #2 for next year.  For this to happen, EVERYONE has to run LOTS of miles over the next 12 months.  Let's get on the awards stand as a team next year!

On To State!

Today at the district meet the Lindbergh boys team finished in second place behind Camas, the #3 ranked team in the state.  The top three teams were:  Camas 68, Lindbergh 89, and Peninsula 133.  We placed four runners in the top 20 (Trevor Thompson 6th, Matt Miland 7th, and Joseph Patt 10th, Nate Reitz 20th).  Since the top seven teams qualify for the state meet, our boys team will once again compete in Pasco next week.  Our girls team did not qualify for the state meet, but four of our top five runners ran lifetime PRs.

League Champions!

Once again the Lindbergh boys took the top spot at the Seamount League meet, easily defeating the second place Renton team.  The top four team scores were Lindbergh 35, Renton 59, Hazen 81, and Mt. Rainier 91.  We placed our top four runners in the top eight places.

The girls team also scored an important victory, defeating Highline to take the 4th spot and qualifying for the district meet.  Anna ran a PR and placed 6th in the race.

The JV boys team felt a sense of redemption by finishing second in the meet and defeating Renton after losing to them at all-city.

The meet director measured the course prior to the race and discovered that it was about 80 meters short of 5K.  To make it exactly 5K he added distance just after the mile mark.  This means that the course we ran yesterday is actually longer than we have been running at the league meet the past several years.  Additionally, we have received a large amount of rain in the past couple of weeks, which made the course pretty soggy in places.  The past few years the course has been dry and firm.  As a result, this course was at least 15 seconds slower than the course last year.

All-City Results

The results were mostly positive at the All-City meet yesterday.  Many of the runners on our team ran great, and two of the three teams met their goals.  The Varsity boys were the big story, defeating Renton, Hazen, and Kennedy to cap off an undefeated season.  But the boys didn't just beat those teams.  It is more accurate to say that we gave them a beating, since we took the top four spots against both Hazen and Renton.  The final score was Lindbergh 20 and both Hazen and Renton 35.  We beat Kennedy 18 to 37.

The girls team also came away with an important victory, beating Kennedy and finishing the season with a winning record, 4 – 3.  The impressive part of this win was that our #3 runner did not run due to shin splints.  Fortunately, other girls stepped up big and put the smack-down on Kennedy 24 – 35.

Victory At Tyee

Lindbergh swept Highline and Tyee yesterday in all races:  JV Boys, Girls, and Varsity Boys.  This brings our records to 4 – 0 for both boys teams, and 3 – 1 for the girls.  Next week on Thursday is the big All-City meet at Seward Park.  Hopefully the boys can finish off an undefeated season, while the girls can lock in a winning record.

Fort Steilacoom Results

We had perfect weather and fast races Saturday at the Fort Steilacoom Invitational.  The boy's team finished 4th out of the 43 teams entered in the boys race, and thus we added one more plaque to the collection.  For eight of our team members this was the first 5K they have ever run.  Almost all of the veterans on our team ran significantly faster than last year.  Given that this race came at the end of a difficult week of training and racing (in the past 8 days we have run three races and one interval workout), our team did great. Just think how fast everyone will run later in the season when we back off our training and race fresh!
