Success at First Seamount Dual Meet

Thursday, Sept, 25, we kicked off the Seamount League dual meet season against Mt. Rainier and Tyee.  Both the boys varsity and junior varsity easily won against both teams.  The girls ran well, but were unable to beat Mt. Rainier.  They did beat Tyee, as well as Kennedy, who ran in the meet but did not score.  Click below for splits and times.

Big Day at Fort Steilacoom Invite

Lindbergh had a huge day today at the Fort Steilacoom Invitational.  Our boys varsity took first place out of 40 teams, including the #6 ranked 4A team in the state (Tahoma).  In the JV #1 race, our five freshmen phenoms took 2nd place overall out of 26 schools competing.  This was the first 5K race for all of our top 5 JV guys.  In the JV 2 race, Lindbergh once again placed 2nd, led by impressive runs by Scott Morrison and Alex Nelsen.  In the girls varsity race we finished 24th out of 48 teams.  Individually, we had quite a few people place in the top ten in their races, and many people ran lifetime PRs.  Sarah Reiter, in just her first 5K race ever, ran a 19:32, which puts her #4 all-time in the history of Lindbergh High School.  On the boys side, Matt Miland moved up to 7th all-time.

Seamount Class Meet Results

This Thursday was the Seamount Class meet.  There are nine team now in the Seamount league (Lindbergh, Renton, Hazen, Mt. Rainier, Tyee, Evergreen, Kennedy, Highline, Foster).  The 2 mile race takes place on the rolling hills of the Evergreen High School course.  Lindbergh looked very good compared to the rest of the league this year; we took home far more top-ten ribbons than any other team.  Mark Garcia and Sarah Reiter won the freshman races, Nate Tandecki took first in the sophomore race, Trevor Thompson ran away with the Junior race, and Matt Miland took second in the senior race to Mt. Rainier's Michael Miller.  Matt and Michael attacked each other for the entire two mile course, passing each other back and forth continuously.  Officially they finished with identical times, although Miller took first on the lean.  Their time of 10:04 is a new class meet course record.  Sam Ahlbeck, who graduated from Lindbergh in 2004-05 held the previous record of 10:07.

Tahoma Relay Results

The season is off and running now that we have had our first meet.  The weather was perfect.  The lake was fairly warm to run through.  Tons of parents came to watch the races and participate in the potluck.  And everyone ran great.  Our top relay team of Trevor, Sarah, Matt, Anna, and Joseph placed third, the best ever for a Lindbergh relay team at that meet.  In short, it was a good day.  I have no idea exactly how long the course actually is (somewhat less than 2 miles).  The times don't mean much.  Some people got caught in the bottleneck and had to slow down.  Some people fell in the water and lost time.  Some people ran most of the course without anyone around them to pace off of.  If you want to see your time and compare it to other team members, however, click below.

Team / Family Picnic at Tahoma Coed Relays Saturday Sept. 6th

The season has finally started, and we are off to a fantastic start.  Everyone has a great attitude and is working hard.  We have about 40 people on the team this year, and since we played the name game today everyone now knows all of their teammate's names.

Our first meet is coming up soon–Saturday, Sept. 6th at Lake Wilderness State Park in Maple Valley. This is a fun practice meet where the runners actually run through the lake in one section.  The meet starts at 8:30 a.m., and the awards ceremony will be over by about 11:00.  At that point we will have a team / family potluck.  This is a great chance for parents, coaches, and athletes to meet one another, and it is a fun tradition we have had for quite a few years.  Everyone on the team will be assigned to bring something to the potluck.

Freshman     main dish type thing

Sophomores     drinks

Juniors     snacks/desserts

Seniors     plates, cups, napkins, plastic forks, etc.

See you there.
