Tahoma Coed Relays this Saturday

This Saturday is our first cross country meet–the Tahoma Coed Relays.  We will also hold our team and family BBQ after the races are completed.  Everyone is invited.  This is a very low-key but fun meet.  It is the only time all season that competitors in the meet get to run through a lake for part of the course.

Time Trial Results

Saturday morning we ran our annual team time trial.  We ran yet another version of our home course at Lindbergh (more construction).  The distance was exactly 3 miles.  Conditions:  Sunny, hot, no wind, about 75 degrees.  Because it was a three-day weekend, several people were out of town.  The times at the time trial are slow every year compared to the times people will run during the season.  This is in part because it is the first race of the year, and in part because the course at Lindbergh is the slowest that we run on all year.

Team and Family BBQ

Saturday, September 9th we have our first meet of the season.  It is at Lake Wilderness State Park.  After the meet, we are going to have our annual Team and Family BBQ.  All Family members are invited to this event.  Some parents are organizing the BBQ, and they will be calling to make sure all the families know about it, and to tell everyone what they need to bring.

This is a great time for everyone to get to know one another, and I look forward to seeing everyone there.

2006 Boys Captains

James Turnbull, Jan Rey Pioquinto, and Tor Ferguson are this year's Boys Cross Country Captains.  These three have done a nice job training over the summer and making phone calls to team members.  They have done a great job providing leadership during the first week of practice, and I am looking forward to working with them this season.

These three boy's captains join Bailey Bangerter and Patty Harvey who were announced as the girls captains earlier in the summer.

Important: Athletic Clearance Information!

The first day of cross country practice is August 21st.  In order to practice and compete with the team you must first get CLEARED.  This process involves the following:  1)  Getting a physical and having your doctor and your parents sign your physical form, 2)  Paying your sports participation fee, and 3)  Purchasing an A.S.B. card.

All of these items can be accomplished begining Tuesday, August 15th.  I want everyone cleared by the first day of practice, so plan now to get cleared!

BBQ at Rettmann’s House

Wednesday, August 2nd we will be meeting at Tiffany Park at 10:00 a.m., driving to Cougar Mountain to go for a run on some really cool trails, and then driving to Rettmann's house on Lake McDonald (which is only a couple of miles from the trails) to go swimming and have a BBQ.  We will car pool back to the Tiffany Park around 2:00.

What to bring:  1)  wear your running clothes, 2)  bring your swimsuit and a towel, 3) bring either something to drink, something to snack on (like chips), or some kind of a simple dessert (like cookies).  I will provide the stuff to BBQ.

We will need several people to drive, so let me know if you can help with this.

Get the word out to other people on the team.  We will have fun no matter what, but it will be even more fun if lots of people come.
