Our top six girls and top six boys are now in the top 32 on the Lindbergh All-Time list. Here are the top six places:
Girls
Sarah Reiter 1, Anna Patti 3, Jasmine Fallgreen 6, Ariel Hodges 22, Mercedes Tischer 28, Liz Hansen 32
Boys
Luke Garcia 13, Mark Garcia 14, Nate Tandecki 18, Nathan Haley 19, Mohamud Abdi 20, Alex Nelson 32
The boys team capped off a great season by finishing 2nd at state, just 11 points out of first. This is the best state meet finish for a Lindbergh team (the previous best was 4th). Two of the boys, Luke Garcia and Mark Garcia, made it on the awards stand by placing 14th and 16th. Each ran a PR on a challenging state meet course. This team has consistently run well all season long, and they had the most impressive pack of any team at the state meet. The spread between our first and seventh runners was only :32. Our #5 runner (Mohamud Abdi) was faster than any other team’s #5, as was our #6 (Alex Nelson), and our #7 (Travis Downen).

Sarah won the 2A girls state championship this morning at Sun Willows golf course with a time of 18:03. Sarah joins Sam Ahlbeck (2004) as the second Lindbergh runner to win the cross country individual championship. Anna Patti also made the awards stand with her 6th place finish with a time of 19:01, which moves her to the #3 all time fastest Lindbergh girl. For the second year in a row the girls team finished in 6th place at the state meet. All of the girls ran very well, running either a PR or within a few seconds of it on a challenging state meet course. Though plaqued by injuries the first half of the season, the girls came through huge at the end of the season.
Saturday, Nov. 6th is the state meet at the Sun Willows golf course in Pasco. The team will leave Friday morning and stay the night at the Kennewick Super 8 hotel. Both the boys and the girls qualified for the state meet today, and all of the runners on the team ran great races. The weather was cold and rainy all day, and the meet got about 30 min. behind schedule. Nonetheless, our runners handled the circumstances like pros.
The girls finished in 4th place overall. Our district is the toughest in the state for the girls. The top five teams qualified for the state meet. The qualifiers were: Kingston 73, Interlake 76, North Kitsap 85, Lindbergh 91, Port Angeles 140. Sarah Reiter finished in second place overall. Anna Patti, Ariel Hodges, and Mercedes Tischer all poster lifetime PRs, while Jasmine Fallgreen ran her season PR.
The boys dominated their race, placing all seven runners in the top 21. This means that all of our runners would have qualified for the state meet as individuals. The team scores were: Lindbergh 38, Kingston 89, Interlake 103, Olympic 107, North Kitsap 127. Mark Garcia finished second overall, while Luke Garcia finished in third. Mark, Luke, Mohamud Abdi, Alex Nelson, and Travis Downen all ran PRs.
Based on our times, the boys and the girls would have qualified for the state meet in all classifications, including 3A and 4A. Our boys would have easily won the 3A meet.

The entire team ran great yesterday at the Seamount – SPSL Sub-District meet. The boys took first place with 24 points. Second place Interlake scored 57. The girls placed second to a very good Interlake team. They beat us 35 to 56. The JV boys easily won the combined 2A / 3A JV race. Sarah Reiter was the individual champion in the girls race with the the fastest time of the day out of the 2A, 3A, and 4A races. Luke Garcia was our top boy, placing second in the race.
Many team members ran PRs in the meet, and we were substantially faster than we were when we raced on this course earlier in the season. This was a great way to end the regular season. The varsity boys and girls race this Saturday at American Lake at the West-Central district meet.
